Getting Started#

Everything you need to to set up nextnanopy and to be ready to run your first simulation is covered in this section. The steps are:

  1. Install the package. pip install nextnanopy is usually all it takes — see Installation for virtual environments, the development install from source and the optional extras.

  2. Set up the configuration. Only needed if you want to run simulations from Python: nextnanopy has to know where your nextnano executables, databases and licenses live. See Set up the configuration.

Loading and plotting existing output data needs neither a nextnano license nor a configuration file, so you can skip step 2 if that is all you are after.
